Counselling

It is extremely important for you to believe in yourselves, not only for what you are now, but for what you have the power to become’
Neal A. Maxwell

Counselling is a process whereby the client and counsellor work together to help bring understanding and clarity to situations and address problems, in doing so it can play a huge role in enhancing our wellbeing. It can sometimes be difficult to share our inner feelings and emotions with our friends or family, and this is when counselling may be particularly helpful.

Talking things through with someone neutral, who is disconnected from other areas of your life can be extremely helpful, and is often the start of things becoming clearer, thereby bringing about positive change. Working together with a professionally trained counsellor will provide a safe, confidential and non-judgemental setting, allowing you to safely share and explore any feelings, worries and difficulties you may have.

During counselling you will not be given advice on what you should do or how you should be, instead you will be guided in order to find the solutions within yourself. People seek counselling for a variety of reasons which may include depression, anxiety, and bereavement; others may be dissatisfied with the way life is, without being able to identity a particular problem. Counselling usually takes place at the same time and place each week; these sessions can either be face to face in my therapy room in Ramsey or via a ‘Walk and Talk’ session. Online and telephone sessions are also available. The number of counselling sessions required will differ from one person to another and this will be reviewed on a regular basis.

Face to Face Counselling

Face to face counselling takes place in my safe and comfortable room in Ramsey. Sessions last for 50 minutes and usually take place once a week at an agreed appointment time. Some clients prefer to meet face to face as they feel there is less of a barrier working in this way. Therapy dog Fudge maybe available for these sessions if it is felt this would be beneficial.

Online Counselling

Online counselling can be helpful for clients who may struggle to attend face to face. Working online is an opportunity for us to work together and still be able to have visual contact. Online session last for 50 minutes and usually take place once a week, via Zoom. Working in this way can often be more convenient and possibly beneficial for those clients who may feel safer working from their own homes. However, if you decide working in this way is for you, it is important to ensure you have a safe, comfortable and confidential space available in order to make the most of your sessions.

Telephone Counselling

Telephone counselling can be helpful for clients who may have difficulty accessing face to face sessions. Telephone sessions, like face to face, last for 50 minutes and usually take place once a week at a mutually agreed appointment time. Some client may prefer having their counselling session take place in their own home, as they may find this more comfortable. However, if you do decide that working in this way is for you it is important to ensure you have a safe, comfortable and confidential space available for the duration of your session. It is also important to ensure you have a reliable phone signal if using a mobile.

Walk and Talk

Walk and Talk sessions take place in a local green space within Ramsey. For some clients being surrounded by nature can be therapeutic in itself, some may find working in this way less intense than working face to face in the therapy room. Like other forms of therapy, Walk and Talk sessions usually take place once a week and last for 50 minutes. Please see my Walk and Talk page for further details.

Fee’s

Each counselling session lasts for 50 minutes at a cost of £45 per session. Sessions will usually be once a week and depending on your preference take place my safe and comfortable therapy room in Ramsey, however telephone and online appointments can also be arranged, if working in this way is preferred.  I also offer ‘Walk and Talk’ sessions which can be arranged at an agreed location (local to Ramsey), these sessions can be with or without Fudge depending on availability.
